Homicide Manhunt: Manheim Dad Wanted In Connection With Wife's 'Suspicious' Death, Police Say

A manhunt is underway for a 48-year-old dad police believe killed his wife in Manheim on Monday.

Matthew Scott Harrison is wanted for the strangulation death of his wife Jami A. Harrison, Northern Lancaster County Regional Police Announced on Wednesday, Feb. 7. 

Officers had been called to a report of a woman who had "suffered from a cardiac arrest event" in the couple's home in the 2200 block of Mount Hope Road in Penn Township, Manheim on February 5, at 4:12 p.m.

They arrived to find 49-year-old Jami A. Harrison in a "suspicious" scene so an investigation was launched.

At 4:44 p.m. the coroner was called. Jami was found in a bedroom and declared dead at 5:50 p.m., Lancaster County Chief Deputy Coroner Eric Bieber detailed in a release.

The coroner noted the cause was "asphyxia due to strangulation and suffocation."

"Autopsy results received today confirmed that the manner of death was homicide," the NLCRPD stated in a release. "Associated law enforcement partners are actively searching for the victim’s husband, Matthew S. Harrison."

He is described as a white 5’7” tall, 170 lbs. man with hazel eyes. He is believed to be driving a black, 2017 K1500, 4-door, Chevy Silverado pick-up truck bearing PA registration ZND7298.

He has ties to Lancaster and York countries. 

He is "considered to be a dangerous person and wanted for questioning by the NLCRPD," as stated in the release.

The NLCRPD, in cooperation with the Lancaster Co. District Attorney’s Office, is actively investigating the case.

No charges have been filed against Matthew S. Harrison in this case as of Wednesday afternoon. Court records show he has a history of burglary, robbery, assault, and theft in Hellam and was sentenced to 5 to 10 years in prison back in 2001. 

The couple were raising daughters together according to social media. 

Jami owned "Your Neighborhood Cleaning Lady" and was known to be her friend's and co-workers's cheerleader, always rooting for the success of others. 

Her friends have already been sharing about their sudden loss on social media; noting that they will "miss that bright light you carry with you wherever you go."

She is survived by her daughters and husband who remains at large. 

Funeral and memorial service details have not been released.
